Working Within an
Existing Data Center
Our firm provided construction management services for the build-out of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of four new data centers constructed for a real estate investment trust firm. One of the data centers, a 24,000sf fit-out in a 100,000sf building entailed working on a sensitive colocation space in an active facility. This required extensive logistics coordination and a detailed safety plan. Staff worked closely with building management and the design team to create plans with a focus on having as little impact to operations as possible. Our staff created detailed budgets and utilized our purchasing power achieving almost $500,000 in savings. The project was completed within an aggressive six-month schedule.
Planning to LEED
A 133,000sf data center was constructed with LEED Gold criteria built into the retrofit work. Our staff provided waste management and recycling services, with the necessary documentation. We worked with the client during preconstruction to select and utilize regional materials. We also achieved LEED points with daylighting and through utilizing low VOC carpeting and paints in the administrative spaces. In order to keep the facility up and running during this critical retrofit, we worked closely with the design team to review the preliminary layouts and drawings and establish the technical requirements. The goal was to create a phased construction schedule that allowed the data centers to be completed and staffed as quickly as possible.
