Mission Critical Operations
Teaming up to accomplish one very critical mission, Biogen Idec sought out Structure Tone to manage the reconfiguration of its existing UPS room to accommodate upgrades to the UPS systems and the installation of a second 300kVA, 270kW UPS system with a maintenance bypass cabinet. Through a series of intense meetings, detailed comprehensive narratives, and dry runs of each individual shutdown, the project was completed on time.
The Shutdown Process
In order to attain Biogen Idec’s goal, the team outlined a thorough shutdown process, which entailed:
- participating in intense weekly meetings with full team participation, including Structure Tone, Environmental Health & Safety, facilities personnel, subcontractors and IT and lab technicians
- developing comprehensive narratives, including shutdown dates and time requirements, equipment affected and a break down of processes taking place hourly
- receiving appropriate approvals and sign-off procedures
- coordinating “dry runs” with the entire team
- monitoring and evaluation of progress
