St. Patrick’s Cathedral Restoration Project, Managed by Structure Tone, Recognized for Preservation Efforts
| Structure Tone, construction manager, and Murphy Burnham & Buttrick LLP, architect, were honored with the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Awards for outstanding restoration efforts at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, an international landmark in New York City. The award was presented by the New York Landmarks Conservancy, an organization that provides technical advice, financial aid and education in order to preserve New York’s architectural heritage. Historic Restoration For more than 130 years St. Patrick’s Cathedral has graced New York City. The plan for the full restoration of St. Patrick’s Cathedral includes work on the exterior and interior of the Cathedral. Work involves necessary repairs that will ensure that the Cathedral endures for future generations:
The project also includes restorative work on the entire Cathedral campus, including the Cardinal’s House and Rectory and the completion of a new garden. The garden will be a green space open to public and will serve as a tranquil place for reflection and meditation at St. Patrick’s. Structure Tone has enforced strict safety standards and has made every effort to minimize impacts of the restoration to St. Patrick’s daily services and aesthetic appearance. More than five million visitors are welcomed by the church each year and the project team has accommodated the church and its visitors during holidays and other special events.
