The Salvadori Center held its annual cocktail benefit on May 1, 2013 honoring Structure Tone’s CEO, Bob Mullen, with the Business Award. The Salvadori Center honors leaders in business, design and public service.

STSW supported and volunteered at the local Rebuilding Together – Houston event. Rebuilding Together is a nationwide charity that helps low-income homeowners improve the conditions of their homes. Structure Tone partnered with Gensler to help repair a home in Houston.

LF Driscoll, a STO company, completed the four-story, 208,000sf double LEED Platinum Five Crescent Drive facility in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard Corporation Center. GlaxoSmithKline will house 1,300 of its employees in the new facility. Five Crescent Drive is the first double LEED Platinum building in Philadelphia.

The American Subcontractors Association (ASA) San Antonio Chapter selected Structure Tone Southwest’s ARGO Group project as Project of the Year at the 18th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards banquet.

Friends of Saint Dominic’s held its 32nd Annual Business and Labor Awards Dinner on January 29th, 2013. Structure Tone chief operating officer, Mike Neary, was honored with the Victory Award. Saint Dominic’s Home is a non-profit organization.

STO and LFD executives attended the grand opening for the University of Hawaii Cancer Center. The new, six-story, 150,000sf cancer research facility is one of 67 located in the US. The cancer center has achieved LEED Gold certification.

Structure Tone’s Washington DC office was selected by Gallaudet University for a 30,000sf renovation project on an active campus. The project is an excellent addition to Structure Tone’s higher education portfolio in the Washington, DC region.

Christopher (Chris) Talley has been named regional vice president for Structure Tone Southwest in Houston, TX. Chris has full technical, administrative, marketing and financial responsibility for the region encompassing the southeast/gulf area of Texas.

Structure Tone’s healthcare senior vice president Joseph Chin will be a featured speaker at the ENR New York’s Pulse in March. The event is an industry-wide forum that reaches out to decision makers responsible for major healthcare construction projects.

Structure Tone Southwest (STSW) proudly accepts two of the Phillips 66 Safety Awards at Phillips 66 first annual safety summit. In attendance were over 35 contractors who work in Phillips 66 facilities, including 11 refineries in the United States.

A topping out ceremony was held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on October 4 to commemorate the final beams being lifted and secured in place on the scaffolding to be used to facilitate the restoration of the church.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan blessed Structure Tone and the workers who are restoring the 133 year old St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This multi-phased, interior and exterior renovation will span three years, as every inch of this historic site is restored.

Mark Strandquist has been named vice president of business development for Structure Tone in Washington, DC. Mark will lead new business pursuits and client development in the region encompassing Washington, DC; Virginia; and Maryland.

Luke Thomas joins Structure Tone’s Center City Philadelphia office as account executive. In this role, Luke will interface with clients and industry partners to facilitate both new business pursuits and project delivery at the highest levels of operational excellence.

Construction manager L.F. Driscoll attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Home2 Suites by Hilton in Philadelphia. Construction of the 246-suite, $60 million development will be managed by Driscoll and open in summer 2013.

Construction projects managed by Structure Tone’s Washington, DC office received awards from the International Interior Design Association. Entries were judged for originality of design, use of color and overall functionality.

Construction workers and executives from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Liberty Property Trust, and L.F. Driscoll (construction manager) signed and hoisted the final beam of Five Crescent Drive during the Topping Out ceremony in December 2011. The 205,000sf, four-story facility, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, is located in the Navy Yard Corporate Center of Philadelphia.

Columbia University broke ground on the new 47,700sf Campbell Sports Center at Baker Athletic Complex, and team members from Structure Tone New York and Pavarini McGovern were there for the ceremonious event. HOK’s newly constructed 34,000sf LEED Platinum office, managed by Structure Tone, won the Best of Award for Interior Design/Tenant Improvement in ENR New York’s annual competition. The Wistar Institute recent broke ground on a $100 million research tower located on 36th and Spruce Streets in Philadephia. L.F. Driscoll is managing the construction of the 89,700sf, glass-fronted structure designed by Ballinger (architect).

On October 14, UNIQLO opened its largest global flagship in the world—UNIQLO New York Fifth Avenue at 666 5th Avenue at 53rd Street. The 89,000sf store is the largest single retailer on Fifth Avenue, brining Japan’s most popular retailer to the international fashion capital of the world—New York.

Structure Tone Southwest-Dallas staff joined forces with Gensler to renovate the arts and crafts room for the Boys & Girls Club in Dallas. The project was managed by Structure Tone Southwest and designed by Gensler (architect) at no cost to the club.

Structure Tone Lyndhurst staff put all vanity aside and participated in a head-shaving event to support the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to finding cures and funding research for childhood cancers. The high-spirited event, in which participants collect pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer, took place in West Orange, NJ and was hosted by The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh.

Jennifer Taranto, LEED AP and Structure Tone’s director of sustainability, lent her expertise and co-presented “Cost Impacts of Sustainable Laboratory Design” at the Labs21 Annual Conference with Taylor Boyd, PE, CCE, senior associate and chief estimator of KlingStubbins. The event, which took place in Providence, RI this year, is the largest gathering of sustainable laboratory professionals in the nation.

In the spirit of community and supporting local charitable organizations, Structure Tone Southwest—Dallas was proud to be part of a team for the Parade of Playhouses. The annual event raises awareness for Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a non-profit organization that supports abused and neglected children in protective care so they have the chance to become successful adults.

United Way of NYC (UWNYC)held its annual Gridiron Gala at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and Tony Carvette, president, Structure Tone, co-chaired the high-spirited event with Joe Cabrera, executive vice president, Cushman & Wakefield; Robert Friedman, senior managing director, The Blackstone Group; and Robert Kueppers, deputy chief executive officer, Deloitte. Attended by New York Giants and New York Jets players, the evening raised more than $2 million to support United Way programs that help New York City at-risk youth.

ACE Team 8’s project, Aquilla Villa, was presented to a distinguished panel of Construction Industry Roundtable (CIRT) members in Washington, DC.

Honoring project teams who best exemplify ConocoPhillips’ (www.conocophillips.com) high standards of performance, Structure Tone Southwest’s Matt Mazurek, Britt McKinney and David Angelo were presented with a SPIRIT of Performance Award for their work on the Transportation Control Center project. The annual awards recognize those who demonstrate excellence in Safety, People, Integrity, Responsibility, Innovation and Teamwork.

TEXO, the construction association representing commercial contractors in North and East Texas, presented projects Denbury Resources and Cathedral of Hope with Distinguished Building Awards. Projects were evaluated on level of complexity, innovative construction techniques, final appearance and timeliness of completion.

Ronald Bowman has joined Structure Tone as executive vice president, ST Tech Services. Ron will be responsible for leading Structure Tone’s mission critical building efforts. With nearly 30 years domestic and international experience, Ron has over 200 data centers to his credit and has consulted on or built data centers, trading floors and energy facilities throughout the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.

As a leading laboratory construction specialist, Structure Tone's Steve Neeson, VP Operations and Jerry Guillorn, VP Sector Development - in collaboration with long time colleagues from Pfizer, JT Collaborative, Genesis Engineers and Flad Associates - conducted the highly interactive seminar Real Time Project: Build a Lab at the 2010 ISPE conference in November.

Team "The Structure Tones" topped the competition at the MS Brain Games hosted by the New York City and Southern New York Chapters of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event raised $500,000 for programs and services provided by the chapters for people affected by multiple sclerosis.
