




Open Space within the Bustling City
We provided construction management services for The Plaza at PPL, a 270,000sf corporate office center. The eight-story, urban office building is encased in glass and has a dramatic center atrium. It contains approximately 215,000sf of corporate office space, 32,000sf of speculative office space and 18,000sf of retail space. We were also responsible for the seven-floor tenant fit-out of PPL’s new offices totaling 196,800sf; and an above-ground, five-level, 325,000sf precast parking garage for 1,123 cars. Sitting 85ft back from the street the Center provides a spacious public plaza that adds much-needed space to a busy downtown business district.
First LEED Gold Project in PA
The office building became the first LEED Gold certified building in Pennsylvania. Extensive energy conservation measures include external bris soleil and canopies to reduce solar gain and glare. High performance glazing, insulated walls and a cool roof to further reduce energy loads. An innovative ice storage system reduced chiller sizes by 40%, and ventilation energy recovery minimizes air conditioning energy use while maximizing outdoor air use. A vegetated roof retains and filters storm water, waterless urinals reduce potable water consumption, and filters are used to remove debris and pollutants from site water runoff. High indoor air quality is maintained by low VOC finish materials.
