Designer Construction
Saks founders Horace Saks and Bernard Gimbel came together to create a unique specialty store that would become synonymous with fashionable, gracious living. This idea is carried through three Saks locations in Texas, a 55,000sf flagship store and 30,000sf men store in San Antonio, and a 55,000sf store in Austin. The construction for each store included extensive millwork, custom Italian light fixtures, Portuguese mosaic marble flooring, African Anigre millwork, a bronze clad muntz metal glazing system, custom English carpet and imported wood flooring. Our staff created a detailed schedule and worked closely with all of Saks’ vendors to ensure that all imported items were on site and ready for installation in accordance with the schedule. The projects were completed for opening on the biggest shopping day of the year–the day after Thanksgiving.
Open All Year
Keeping the store open for shopping during the renovation of the Northstar Mall location was paramount to Saks Incorporated. The construction schedule was reviewed by the entire team and included phased construction of the store with extensive after work hours to have critical sections completed for business the next day. The phased construction included renovation and remodeling of the exterior building skin, new exterior signage, full demolition of existing spaces, full renovation of two floors of interior space, new drywall ceilings, renovation of the existing escalators and installation of high-end finishes.
