Constructing an Internet Retail Store
Net-A-Porter, an online luxury fashion retailer, leased additional warehouse and office space to support their business growth. Its new DF2 facility serves as Net-A-Porter’s North American headquarters for internet sales as well as warehouse and distribution facility. Structure Tone built-out two full floors, totaling 80,000sf and met the 16-week schedule.
The project’s key features include:
- circular atrium at reception area featuring Murano glass chandeliers
- two-story display stair
- Level 5 finishes and gypsum board ceilings
- theater area for special events
- cafeteria with full cooking kitchen
- gymnasium with showers and lockers
Re-Supporting the Structure
Prior to starting construction our team identified deficiencies in the structural steel assemblies of the building. We worked closely and diligently with the building’s owner, building management and the owner’s architect, to put forth a plan to reinforce the floor and roof assemblies in order to accommodate the increased floor loading. This work was completed on an expedited schedule, working two shifts six-days a week, to allow construction of Net-A-Porter’s space to resume as quickly as possible.
Structure Tone also played a key role in the full automation of the warehouse distribution facility. Features include an automated pick system, new storing/staging mezzanines decks and conveyors to expedite orders in the expanding distribution center.
