Going for the Gold
Structure Tone completed a 45,000sf interior renovation project for Bank of America, which was one of the first LEED projects for the Bank in the New England region. This space was built for “My Work,” a voluntary program through which employees work from home, when they do not have to be in the office. The office space was reconfigured to meet the ever changing needs of the employees in a short 14-week timeframe.
Structure Tone worked diligently to ensure the Bank met its initiatives of achieving Innovation & Design points for construction waste management and we were able to achieve a 95% recycling rate. Deconstruction of the space enabled Structure Tone to donate construction materials to a local architectural reuse center that would benefit low income housing residents.
This project was built utilizing recycled construction materials that comprised 29% of the total material costs and regional materials that accounted for 78%. Ultra low-flow fixtures and waterless urinals were installed in order to achieve 37% water use reduction. Each of these elements, along with a checklist full of others, contributed to the LEED Gold certification from the USGBC.
Additional Floors Required Attention
In addition to the “My Work” project, Structure Tone has completed over 250,000sf of space for the Bank at 100 Federal Street. As floors are being upgraded and renovated, the Bank is building them to LEED standards, with three floors already certified at the Silver and Gold levels.
Our work has ranged from cosmetic upgrades to technology system installation and swing space to restacking multiple floors while the space remains occupied and operational. As the “go to” contractor for the Bank, Structure Tone understands and anticipates it s needs. We work closely with the facilities team to establish budgets and assist with long-term facilities planning and maintenance needs. Our preconstruction efforts provide valuable savings to the Bank, both financially and in preventing lost time, as it is during this phase that the projects are planned and a strategy for execution is set.
