Fit-out for Future Growth
The objective for the 11,000sf fit-out for the non-profit Jane Goodall Institute was to create a space that represented a widely recognized ideology, and also sought to facilitate future organizational growth. Located in the Nature Conservancy Building in Arlington, VA, the Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education and Conservation has promoted conservation of primate habitats as well as various education and research endeavors since it was founded in 1977. The new space consists of private offices, a lobby, conference room and kitchen. The office also features many photographs and art pieces from Jane Goodall’s work observing chimpanzees. Work was completed on an aggressive schedule in an occupied building.
Habitat for Harmony
Our client’s dedication to animal welfare was the driving factor in selecting and acquiring building materials. The sustainable, eco-friendly features successfully reflect the organization’s values as well as serve its organizational needs. Birch doors lead from the elevator lobby into the reception area, which features Teragran solid bamboo strip flooring. A pair of impact-resistant Varia ecoresin panel doors stands between the reception area and state-of-art conference room. Also, in order to make use of natural light, glass fronted offices were installed.
