Construction of the
New Broadcast Studios
Construction management services were provided to Essex County College (ECC) for the construction of their Media Production and Technology Center. Structure Tone demolished the existing production and learning center, and transformed it into a 7,500sf state-of-the-art professional media production center incorporating existing studio equipment and new technologies. The new and improved facility also features:
- campus master control center for all audio/video needs
- student media production studio and control center
- video editing suites and classrooms
- campus video/audio distribution center
- administrative space
The new studios are home to the College’s TV station TV77/WNET, which is broadcast locally to more than 85,000 homes.
Broadcasting the Construction Progress
The Media Production and Technology Center is located in the heart of the campus, and surrounded by laboratories and classrooms. The project team developed a plan to maintain student safety and minimize disruptions to the surrounding learning environment. Close attention was paid to all noise levels and construction personnel access and deliveries.
