The Edelman Challenge
Edelman was focused on effectively organising all employees under one roof and creating a youthful and relaxed vibe in the office environment. The ‘Edelman Challenge’ began here. Combining four existing offices into one 30,000sf European headquarters, Edelman, was eager to explore the possibilities an open design plan offered. To create the new space, work included:
- specialised conference suite
- AV/VC facilities
- comms room
- bespoke partitioning system
- bar/lounge area
- meeting rooms
- breakout areas
- bespoke joinery to cafe bar island unit
- unique reception
- food prep and servery areas
Realising the Goals
The realisation of this challenge quickly became apparent, particularly as selected building lease arrangements had yet to be finalised. By working closely with Edelman and the newly appointed design team, we were able to identify the best procurement method in order to achieve the objectives. This required a '2-stage' approach. By actively engaging with the supply chain early, we were able to develop concept into detailed design, with working drawings tabled at the earliest opportunity. In another schedule saving measure, our team evaluated the existing lighting control system and was able to adapt it to suit the new lighting scheme requirements. By avoiding stripping out the existing system, we were not only able to save schedule but also budget. This well-planned and organised 17-week programme was successfully completed on schedule.
