A New Hang-out
Structure Tone provided construction management services on the 4,700sf renovation of what was formerly office space within the W.W. Hagerty Library space; transforming the space into a café, lounge and study area, securely accessible to students 24 hours a day. Inside the Bookmark Café globe lighting dangles over head at various lengths; underfoot lies a swirling mix of flooring in different colors, textures, and materials. Two of the four walls of the Bookmark Café are lined with cushioned, high backed, booths. The café is located in the corner of the room. Outside, our team installed new concrete stairs and extended the patio for handicapped access. In warmer weather this outdoor area serves as an additional seating area.
Shh! Student at Work
Our team began this project, which was scheduled during the height of the fall semester, which meant taking special precautions to work in an active educational environment. Signage was posted and heavy duty plastic barriers were erected to separate and protect the existing operational library, mitigating any construction related disturbances.
