The Quality of Preconstruction Reflects the Project
As Barneys New York set out to build its first flagship store in 13 years, Structure Tone understood the expectations of Barney’s clientele and that the store needed to meet Barney’s demanding standards of quality and craftsmanship. Located in the exclusive Copley Place, the 50,000sf store is divided evenly over two floors, with back-of-the-house offices and storage areas. The one of a kind shopping experience was accomplished through time and attention spent during the design and before the construction phase. Every detail was perfectly planned and tracked through this preconstruction phase. Our staff provided value engineering and budgeting services to determine the most cost effective way to complete the project while meeting Barneys New York goals.
Precise Planning Led to a One of a Kind Showroom
Extensive coordination with the subcontractors and vendors was mandatory to construct the creative spaces within the store and install the array of finishes used throughout the space. In order to meet the demands of the project, the team broke down the project into manageable pieces. For example, to accommodate the 12 types of wood for the project, Structure Tone subcontracted with five millworkers to achieve the detail that the Barneys New York showroom exhibits. In addition, the store was divided into quadrants to permit millworkers access through a preplanned schedule based on delivery of products. Another key feature was installation of the light fixtures. To ensure that the light installation progressed smoothly, Structure Tone staff laid out every fixture on the floor before installing—more than 3,000 fixtures.
