Preconstruction Planning

Our firm was selected to provide construction services to support our client’s strategic business needs for local storage of sensitive data. Building this 15,000sf mission critical facility from the ground up in six months required extensive preconstruction phase services. A precast panel mission critical structure and casting the panels on sight was the selected alternative. These panels are supported by a structural steel frame that will withstand hurricane force winds. Materials for the offices, loading dock, restrooms, lobby and computerized tape storage rooms were pre-purchased and delivered to the site before their scheduled installation day. The building’s electrical and mechanical components, which consist of a 350kW generator and two 30-ton split system AC units to feed the building, were also pre-purchased.

Multiple Security Features

Due to the critical nature of the building’s operations, multiple layers of security were installed. Retinal scanners provide access to the bunker and an eight ft-high perimeter fence surrounds the entire site, which is accessible only by card access. In addition, earthen berms measuring 10ft-high surround 90% of the building. Landscaping includes native vegetation to meet the LEED Silver criteria, but also to enhance the exterior security measures.
