Preconstruction Services
Our firm provided construction management services for this new ground up, 78,000sf building for 175 employees. With 10,000sf of raised flooring and Tier III technology, valuable data will be safeguarded around the clock. The data center is able to withstand tornados at an F3 level with wind speeds exceeding 250 mph, including all gear and equipment located in the building’s white space.
Our preconstruction services were instrumental in maintaining the budget and schedule for this data center. Our input on the schematic, 30%, 70% and final budgets translated into cost savings for the client. Our value engineering recommendations and alternative solutions for the MEP systems and connections were directly responsible for savings on switchgear and generator costs. By identifying critical equipment and long-lead items we were able to ensure timely delivery. Finally, our open lines of communication between the owner, and all other team members are what made this project a successful endeavor.
Jump Starting
In order to maintain the aggressive schedule, it was suggested that construction of the building begin as soon as possible. Our staff worked closely with the project team and our client’s representatives agreed to begin construction of this building while the design documents were only at 70% completion. With a three month head-start on the foundations, earthwork and exterior, the project was fully completed one month ahead of schedule.
