Preconstruction Services
Save Client Millions
Over the course of a year, we provided preconstruction services for a two-story, 398,000sf data center. Through in-house mission critical construction expertise, Structure Tone worked with our client to identify their business goals and objectives. Through revisions to the design and value engineering recommendations we devised a solution that met their programmatic need. Originally conceived as a Tier IV facility, we were able to work with the design team and owner to develop a scheme for a Tier III facility (changed from 2(N+1) to Catcher N+1) that met day-one requirements while providing the opportunity to expand efficiently and effectively in both size and capacity and Tier level in the future.
Mission Critical Facility
The new building supports a mission critical operation of over 150,000sf of white space. The facility is concurrently maintainable with fully redundant systems, which include:
- generator and chiller plant—N+2 (seven auxiliary generators)
- UPS—N+1
- substation—2N
The facility was designed and constructed to achieve a total load of 28MW. To achieve this, we built two 138kV substations/switchyards on site. We installed an electric power monitoring system (EPMS), building management system (BMS) and pre-action fire protection and detection system. Within the data centers, we installed the cable plant infrastructure to support all information systems, which was a complete fiber solution.
The entire facility is highly secure, designed and constructed to withstand an explosive event without impact to critical systems or operations continuity.
