Mission Critical Structure
As a joint-venture partner, we managed construction of a new, 98,000sf facility data center that provides back-up data support for the client in the event of a disaster. The structure was designed with a hardened shell and two independent power feeds—N+1 and Tier III+. Equipment installed included two 500-ton chillers, 20 CRAC units on the data floor and 30 CRAC units in the mechanical room serving the critical gear rooms and command center.
The interior was built out to include electrical and mechanical equipment on the first floor with offices, restrooms and command center on the second floor. Day 2 work included a series of upgrades were performed on the facility for Day 2 work. Our team installed a 50-ton chiller; two UPS modules; distribution wiring; and additional cabinets.
Electrical and Mechanical Systems
Electrical and mechanical systems provide 24/7/365 operating capabilities. The electrical system is powered by 575 volts and includes two 2MW generators, four UPS modules and two battery strings for each UPS module. The mechanical system includes switchgear, UPS switchgear, paralleling switchgear and 48 remote power panels.
Subsequent work involved a 10,000sf expansion whitespace, including installation of raised floor, new lighting and additional racks. We increased the electrical capacity of UPS by adding two 750kVA and installing in-row cooling and under floor busduct power feed for racks. We also installed a 2MW generator and 500-ton air-cooled chiller on the roof.
