Protected & Secure Environment
One of the largest and most experienced fertility clinics within New England, IntegraMed’s 24,000sf Reproductive Science Center is an office with patient recovery areas and procedural rooms and, more importantly, a full-service laboratory built to protect, test and store embryos. Security and redundant systems were an important focus for IntegraMed due to the sensitive nature of the embryos. To ensure integrity of the facility our team managed the installation of the state-of-the-art security system. Also to ensure that there would be zero down time for all the equipment, a 100kW standby generator, emergency power distribution system and transfer switch to were also installed.
Sterile Environment Measures
The laboratory area must be sterile at all times; thus, indoor air quality must be maintained in this environment. Extensive HVAC work was necessary to provide a sterile, safe environment for the critical procedures taking place in the labs. This began with a new cleanroom-style roof-top AC unit, which contained HEPA filters, permanganates and laminar flow diffusers. The embryology lab and procedure rooms contained two electric steam humidifiers, electric duct heaters and laminar flow heads. Medical gas piping was installed to secure the lab environment, including nitrous oxide, oxygen, CO2, liquid nitrogen and mixed gas.
