Timothy Cardinal Dolan Blessed Structure Tone's Workers
Restoring St. Patrick's Cathedral
| On Thursday, August 30, 2012, Timothy Cardinal Dolan cheered on Structure Tone and all the workers who are restoring the 133 year old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, located at Fifth Avenue and 51st Street in midtown Manhattan. “Know of my respect, know of my pride in your work,” Dolan said as he blessed the group with holy water. “I’ve been so inspired by your devotion and dedication and sense of joy.” This multi-phased, interior and exterior renovation will span three years or more, as every inch of this historic site is restored. The team appreciated the visit with Dolan, the leader of New York’s Catholics and president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. St. Patrick’s is a living/working house of worship, historic landmark and treasured tourist attraction that is visited by over three million people per year, of utmost concern is the safety of those visitors and the church itself. St. Patrick’s will remain open for the duration of the work; therefore, the first phase of the project entailed building the scaffolding that will envelop the building to ensure the safety of all. The plan for the full restoration of St. Patrick’s Cathedral includes work on both the exterior and interior of the Cathedral, as well as its treasured stained glass windows. This work is not merely cosmetic, but necessary to ensure that the Cathedral lasts for future generations. The exterior requires mortar replacements and the interior needs extensive cleaning to showcase the Church’s original beauty. Once complete, the Cathedral campus will also feature a new garden and public greenspace. The Structure Tone organization refers to a group of independent companies including Structure Tone, Inc.; Structure Tone Southwest, Inc.; Structure Tone (UK), Inc.; Pavarini Construction Co., Inc.; Pavarini McGovern, LLC; and L.F. Driscoll Company, LLC. Each member company is an independent entity operating and providing services solely under its own name. STO collectively employs over 1,350 professionals; has 21 offices in the US, UK, Ireland and Asia; and puts in place over $2.8B in annual construction volume.
