Delicate Construction Delivery
Just as Akamai Technologies delivers information to customers, Structure Tone delivered the design concept to Akamai through our construction expertise. Structure Tone successfully completed Akamai’s three-phase office renovation in two separate buildings. We helped obtain LEED Silver certification, overcame curvy design challenges and lent an understanding hand for the construction of a quiet room.
The design required a series of elliptical walls to be constructed on all three floors. To meet the delivery date and maintain construction quality, the team constantly communicated with the architect to confirm the dimensions of the walls. Through this close coordination, the ceiling and window heights were positioned accordingly.
As a memorial to Akamai’s co-founder and CTO who died on September 11th, a “quiet room” was constructed where staff could meditate. The team worked directly with Akamai to understand the significance and concept while delivering the highest quality work.
LEED Silver Certification
Structure Tone’s team provided LEED project administration. The entire project team collaborated early on to determine the LEED scorecard for Silver certification. Through this integrated design process we planned ahead for the required credits. The design incorporated daylight into occupied areas and optimal lighting/HVAC energy performance throughout. During construction, Structure Tone delivered a high construction waste recycling rate, maintained indoor air quality and incorporated low VOC materials, paints and sealants.
